Movie Morsels: New BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE Photo, Plus Zack Snyder on the Film’s Batmobile

Greeting, Movie Morselers! We’re starting this work week off with more superhero films than you can swing Thor’s hammer at, including the latest on Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, the screen’s next Spider-Man, Tom Holland, and of course, Thor: Ragnarok. Plus, updates on Ghost in the Shell and Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Excelsior!

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

Director Zack Snyder has a few new things to say about the pairing of Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, in advance of the film’s next trailer…

“I want to — we’re working toward Justice League, and I really want to create the — part of the thing I really want to create is the possibility of a world where they could exist together. I think up to this point, it’s been difficult to suggest a world where Batman and Superman and Wonder Woman and others could exist in the same universe. That was one of the things I really wanted to try and get at. Not to mention, the amazing opportunity to bring those characters and have those characters tell an important story, their own story, within the confines of a film.”

As for the film’s new Batmobile, Snyder comments…

“You know it has all the kind of fun stuff. It has the countermeasures — we always talk about the countermeasures because people are like, ‘What the heck is countermeasures?’ You know, if I shot a missile at it, flares would pop out of those holes and stop the missile from hitting it… So that’s fun. It’s got this crazy gun [on the front part of the vehicle]. It’s super-fast. It’s electrified. It can do all the other Bat-car stuff. But the cool thing I liked about it is that it’s a purpose built Batmobile, right? Which is kind of fun to get back to that.”

To further whet your appetite, Total Film has a new still from the movie in its latest issue…

Spider-Man

Spider-Man

Actor Tom Holland explains his recent injury on the set of Captain America: Civil War, in which he’ll make his screen debut as Spider-Man…

“It was my own mistake. I basically fell over and bashed my face in front of about two hundred crew members, so not my most heroic moment! It was luckily just before my last shot; they were like, ‘Roll cameras!’, I was getting into position, everything went wrong, and they still did the take anyway. It looks great and they’ll probably just CGI out all the blood, and yeah, I was very lucky.”

Regarding his version of the wallcrawler, whose first solo film produced by Marvel Studios lands on July 28, 2017, and whether he will derive inspiration from previous screen Spider-Men, Holland comments…

“I think it’s impossible not to, they were so great and such real and rich performances and there’s obviously factors I love and I will continue to try and recreate, but I think the most important thing at the moment is making a film which is obviously of the same character but make it a new and exciting movie.”

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them

Rowling-Fantastic-Beasts-and-Where-to-Find-Them

Finally today, actor Eddie Redmayne praises Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them author J.K. Rowling, whom he met while preparing for his role in the film adaptation…

“When I was prepping, I met J.K. Rowling and what’s so amazing is that her imagination is so full and thorough — it’s so encyclopedic of her world — we had an hour together and I sort of asked her about eight hundred questions so that was a lot of my wonderful research.”

Regarding the adaptation’s director, Harry Potter helmer David Yates, Redmayne remarks…

“He’s wonderful. Even though there’s a scale to these films that could be intimidating, he has such a kindness but an absolutely brilliant that it feels very intimate, and he’s got such a wonderful, eclectic cast. Hopefully, it will be good.” [bad grammar quoted directly]
