The Odyssey
After his turn as Blackberd in director Joe Wright’s Pan (out on October 9th), Hugh Jackman may play a very different kind of legendary seaman, Odysseus, in a series of films from Lionsgate to be directed by Hunger Games helmer Francis Lawrence. The actor is in talks to star in an adaptation of Homer’s 8th century epic poem The Odyssey, which is being adapted by Hunger Games: Mockingjay screenwriter Peter Craig.

Valerian
Luc Besson’s adaption of writer Pierre Christin and artist Jean-Claude Mézières’ classic French science-fiction comic Valerian has just added a new name to its cast: Clive Owen. The Knick star will play Commander Arün Filitt, opposit Dane DeHaan’s time-and-space-traveling title character and Suicide Squad‘s Cara Delevingne as his redheaded partner Laureline. Valerian is set for release on July 21, 2017.
La La Land
You loved them together in Crazy, Stupid, Love. You thought they were, well, okay together in Gangster Squad. Now Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling are teaming up for a third time in Whiplash director Damien Chazelle’s musical La La Land. Below you can see some photos from the film’s Los Angeles shoot, which have arrived online courtesy of Coming Soon. Co-starring J.K. Simmons, Jessica Rothe, Sonoya Mizuno, and Callie Hernandez, La La Land opens on July 15, 2016.
Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials
Fox has released an amusing new promo for the second film in its Maze Runner saga, in the form of an animated public service spot about the infamous Flare virus. Starring Dylan OâBrien, Kaya Scodelario, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Giancarlo Esposito, Aidan Gillen, Ki Hong Lee, Barry Pepper, Lili Taylor, and Patricia Clarkson, and directed by Wes Ball, Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials opens on September 18th.

Kong: Skull Island
And the latest actor to join Universal’s King Kong spinoff Kong: Skull Island is…the Fantastic Four reboot’s Doctor Doom, Toby Kebbell. Jordan Vogt-Roberts directs the March 10, 2017 release, co-starring Brie Larson, Corey Hawkins, Tom Hiddleston, Samuel L. Jackson, John C. Reilly, and Tom Wilkinson.
Ferrari
For our last story this week… Christan Bale has played all kinds of mavericks in his eclectic career. Now he’ll get to portray one of the automotive field’s most famous in Michael Mann’s long-in-development biopic about Italian mogul Enzo Ferrari. The film is expected to shoot next summer.
