Justice League

Sorry, Green Lantern fans, but while DC’s Geoff Johns indicated in the recent Dawn of the Justice League TV special that the emerald gladiator would soon join the new DC Extended Universe, producer Charles Roven says that might not actually happen until the second Justice League film…

“Every beat of the movie is not yet worked out. So there’s the possibility that he may or may not be in Justice League 2. For now, we felt that we were introducing enough characters that the best possible place we could put Green Lantern is some introduction in Justice League 2, or barring that, a movie after.”

Justice League Part One is expected to begin shooting in April, and is due in theaters on November 17, 2017; with the sequel following on June 14, 2019. Both films will feature Henry Cavill as Clark Kent/Superman, Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Gal Gadot as Diana Prince/Wonder Woman, Jason Momoa as Arthur Curry/Aquaman, Ray Fisher as Victor Stone/Cyborg, and Ezra Miller as Barry Allen/The Flash.

It turns out that Sony didn’t unveil all of its new Ghostbusters footage in yesterday’s trailer debut. The studio saved a little extra—with stars Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones in action—for a featurette examining the film’s science, which includes an interview with the always nattily dressed director Paul Feig…

Warner Bros is apparently so pleased with how director David Ayer’s Suicide Squad has turned out that that it’s already planning for Suicide Squad 2. The upcoming film’s star Will Smith is rumored, alongside Joel Edgerton, to be in talks to join Ayer for his next project, the Max Landis-scripted fantasy Bright. This film is looking to start production this year in order to allow them time to shoot Suicide Squad 2 in 2017. Since Warner Bros has an open slot in their schedule of upcoming DC Extended Universe films, we might very well see a sequel announced in the months ahead.
