Tom Hanks is closing in on talks to play another real life captain in todayâs Movie Morsels. But first, the all-new, all-female Ghostbusters make their debut, Matthew Vaughn reveals plans for Hit-Girl and Kick-Ass 3, Channing Tatum tells us where Gambit wonât be showing up, and Rob Zombieâs next movie is absolutely NOT what you would expect!
The New Ghostbusters
âSometimes, weird things happen, someone has to deal with it, and who’re you going to call?”
Well, not Leslie Jones. Because sheâs not on the set yet. But Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, and Melissa McCarthy have reported for duty on Paul Feigâs new Ghostbusters movie. Production started this week and photos from the set have been leaking out at an accelerated pace.
Here are a few of our favorites that popped up throughout the day:

Hit-Girl & Kick-Ass 3
The Kick-Ass franchise is not dead! At least not if Matthew Vaughn has anything to say about it. Despite the poor reception that Kick-Ass 2 got at the box office, Vaughn revealed that he is trying to put together a Hit-Girl prequel movie that would tell the origin story of Hit-Girl and Big Daddy.
A younger Hit-Girl probably means that Chloë Grace Moretz would be recast for a prequel. But Vaughn does want Moretz and Aaron Taylor Johnson back for Kick-Ass 3 if the proposed Hit-Girl movie revitalizes the franchise.

Highest Duty
Tom Hanks is reportedly in final negotiations to star in director Clint Eastwoodâs next film as Captain Chesley âSullyâ Sullenberger.
Sully Sullenberger…I love that name. Itâs sounds like it could have come from one of Stan Leeâs Marvel comic book scripts from the â60s. But Captain Sully is a real guy who saved 155 people when he pulled off an emergency landing of US Airways Flight 1549 in the Hudson River back in 2009 without a single fatality. It was the Miracle on the Hudson.
Eastwoodâs movie will be based on Sullenbergerâs book, Highest Duty: My Search For What Really Matters, which he co-wrote with Jeffrey Zaslow.

Raised Eyebrows
So, Rob Zombieâs not doing the next Halloween movie? No problem. Zombie already has his next project lined up…and itâs definitely a surprise.
Zombie is attached to direct an adaptation of Steve Stoliarâs book Raised Eyebrows: My Years Inside Grouchoâs House. The novel recounts Stoliarâs stint as Groucho Marxâs personal secretary, running among Hollywood legends including Mae West, George Burns, Bob Hope, Jack Lemmon, S.J. Perelman, Steve Allen, and of course, the other Marx Brothers: Zeppo and Gummo.

X-Men: Apocalypse
Bryan Singerâs next X-Men movie is full of mutant superheroes as the action moves to the â80s and Professor X finally loses his hair. But thereâs at least one mutant who wonât be appearing this time.
During his AMA on Reddit, Gambit star Channing Tatum was asked if he would be making a cameo in X-Men: Apocalypse. âNo maâam, or sir. I definitely will not,â was Tatumâs response. Which makes sense. Presumably the new Gambit movie will take place in the present. But I think thereâs no way to reconcile Tatumâs Gambit with the one played by Taylor Kitsch who was active in the â80s. I think the plan is to just pretend that X-Men Origins: Wolverine never happened.

Inside Out
Nerdist editor-in-chief Rachel Heine got to visit Pixar HQ in Emeryville, CA to talk with director Pete Docter about Inside Out, Pixarâs latest animated feature that hits theaters this weekend.
Iâve already seen Inside Out, and it is definitely one of Pixarâs best. Whatâs the expression? âAll the feels?â Youâre gonna have ’em while watching this film.
