Morrissey Has Written a Novel and It’s Called LIST OF THE LOST

Morrissey: One of the only musicians who might have more to say than Bono. It only made sense that in his 2012 autobiography, subtly titled Autobiography, he said a lot, and that polarized readers and critics. Many were into it, while A. A. Gill, in a move that probably got him uninvited from the Morrissey family Christmas party, wrote in his award-winning review, “What is surprising is that any publisher would want to publish the book, not because it is any worse than a lot of other pop memoirs, but because Morrissey is plainly the most ornery, cantankerous, entitled, whingeing, self-martyred human being who ever drew breath. And those are just his good qualities.”

Regardless, what we learned is that when Morrissey puts pen to paper, people react. Morrissey isn’t one to shy away from any sort of spotlight, so today, it was announced that he will soon publish his first novel; it is titled List of the Lost, and it’s currently scheduled for release at the end of September. There’s no firm release date yet, and the book will be published in Australia, Ireland, New Zealand, South Africa, the U.K., and as far as we know, not in the U.S. quite yet, it seems.

We have no clue what it will be about, but we’re thinking something malaise and brooding. While we’re talking about Morrissey, we just remembered this wonderful, not-malaise-at-all chiptune version of The Smiths’ “This Charming Man”, and it is to die for. Obviously, the track is credited to “Super Morrissey Bros.”
