Mondo Reveals Details About First Ever MondoCon

It’s official! The first MondoCon is happening! Besides being a showcase for Mondo’s gorgeous limited edition posters, the event will be one big celebration of toys, art, film, and music. They’re rounding it out with panels, special screenings, and plenty of special guests. The first wave of announced guests include artists Mike Mignola, Bernie Wrightson, Francesco Francavilla, Phantom City Creative, Geof Darrow, and many more. Based on what they’ve teased, the convention is shaping up to be memorable. You can start saving your money now.

But, hold off on putting away your dollars until after Mike Mignola’s brand-new The Bride of Frankenstein poster goes on sale. Mondo’s releasing the art in honor of MondoCon, and it’s limited to 325 pieces. The $50 print will go on sale Thursday, June 5, and as always, follow @MondoNews for the precise sale time.

MondoCon 2014 is scheduled for September 20 and 21 at The Marchesa Hall & Theater in Austin, Texas. It coincides with the first weekend of Fantastic Fest, which takes place at the Alamo Drafthouse. It’s a smart move since people may already be planning to be in town for the film festival, and there’s a good chance many of the festival’s attendees appreciate Mondo posters.

Tickets for MondoCon go on sale Wednesday, June 4. They haven’t announced a specific on sale time yet, but once they do, I recommend grabbing tickets fast if you’re planning to attend. Yes, it’s the inaugral event and we have no way of knowing whether they will reach capacity, but it’s Mondo. Given the enthusiasm people have for their posters and gallery shows, it’s not a bad idea to act quickly. Single day tickets are $35 and weekend passes (two day tickets) are $70.
