Michael Ian Black is Debuting a New Stand-Up Special on Epix

It’s been five years since Michael Ian Black’s most recent stand-up comedy special, 2011’s I Am a Wonderful Man. He’s kept busy since then, hosting podcasts and appearing in TV shows, including the much-loved revival of Wet Hot American Summer. But now, it has been announced that Black is returning to the stand-up arena with a new special titled Noted Expert, which Black said will be presented “the way God intended — free of charge during the Epix Free Preview, and with all the curse words.”

To clarify, the special will premiere on May 13 at 10 p.m. EST on Epix during the network’s Free Preview Weekend, running from May 12 to 15. A snippet from the special has also been shared (above), and in the bit, Black reveals a harsh truth: abortion laws are flawed because babies (or rather, most humans as a whole) are helpless regardless of their age.

Black first explains that the cutoff for having a legal abortion is called viability, “which is defined as the ability of the fetus to live outside the womb without intervention.” He then goes on to say, “That is a terrible way to determine when abortion should be legal because I know 25-year-olds who cannot live outside the womb without intervention. If you think about it, no baby can live outside the womb without intervention.”

Much more irreverent, dry and dark humor is sure to follow, so let us know in the comments if you’re as excited as we are for Black’s first stand-up special in years.
