Michael B. Jordan Thinks Killmonger Could Have Beaten Thanos

Killmonger isn’t just one of the best villains in the history of the MCU; he’s one of the best movie villains ever. In fact, he was so compelling I’m still not sure he should even qualify as a bad guy. What I am sure of, though, is that Michael B. Jordan’s comments about what would happen if the would-be king of Wakanda ever met Infinity War‘s Mad Titan are way too optimistic, because no matter how smart he is, Killmonger probably wouldn’t stand a chance against Thanos.

Jordan was asked by The A.V. Club what he thought would happen if Black Panther‘s Killmonger were to face off with the universe-halving Thanos. The actor pointed to his character’s preparedness as the reason why he’d actually have a chance of defeating him:

“I think the one thing about Killmonger is he really plans his attacks, and they’re well thought out. So if he ever stepped in a situation with Thanos, he would feel confident that he had the upper hand—at the very least, he would know he had a shot. So I mean, we already know that Erik’s willing to sacrifice himself for a greater good, so I don’t think he’s ever fearful of losing his life. So I think if he ever stepped in front of Thanos, he’d already have a plan for taking him down.”

This reminds me of a famous Mike Tyson quote: “Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth.” Well, no one punches you in the mouth quite like Thanos, who managed to kick the Incredible Hulk’s massive green ass, and who withstood a magical axe in the shoulder from Thor. There’s a reason he easily dusted aside T’Challa even before he snapped his fingers. Not to mention the fact that Thanos isn’t exactly a dummy either.

But maybe I’m being unfair to Killmonger. Maybe he would have concocted a plan that avoided a physical confrontation altogether. Granted, that seems unlikely, since even one Infinity Stone gave Thanos incredible power, which is why the only shot the Avengers had at beating him was to work together to remove the Infinity Gauntlet from his hand entirely (way to go Star-Lord). And given that Killmonger doesn’t exactly play well with others, no matter how well-thought out his plan might have been, he probably wouldn’t have the allies needed to pull it off.

What do you think? Would he have a chance against the Mad Titan? Tell us why in the comments below.
