Could Michael B. Jordan Star in a Boba Fett Movie?

Ever since Lucasfilm and Disney announced their plans for three separate Star Wars Anthology films, the subject of third one has been something of a mystery. We know that the first, Gareth Edwards’ Rogue One, comes out next spring, with Phil Lord and Chris Miller tackling the young Han Solo movie after that. But the third one has been speculated about endlessly, with most rumors leaning towards some kind of solo outing for the Star Wars galaxy’s #1 bounty hunter, Boba Fett. But after Josh Trank left the project last spring, many thought the Boba Fett movie would be put on the back burner.

However, a new rumor suggests that the Boba Fett movie might be anything but tabled, and that Lucasfilm may even have an actor in mind for the part: upcoming Creed star Michael B. Jordan. According to a rumor that appeared first on the Meet the Movie Press podcast, before taking the gig directing Fast and the Furious 8, director F. Gary Gray was considering taking the job helming the Boba Fett movie, and the reason he was so interested was the chance to work with Jordan, who was already being seriously considered for the part of Boba Fett by Disney.

Of course, fans are wondering how the African-American Jordan could even play Boba Fett, given that Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones established that he was the clone of bounty hunter Jango Fett. Both Jango and young Boba were played by actors of Maori descent, and unlike when Jordan took over the role of Johnny Storm in Fantastic Four, this isn’t going to be a reboot. So how could Jordan play the same Boba Fett? It seems the answer to this lies in yet another rumor, which suggests that at some point, the name “Boba Fett” became a title, a name bestowed upon whoever wears the armor—meaning we could see a movie where Jordan kills the original Boba and takes his place.

Of course, the operative word for all this is “rumor,” so take all of this with a grain of salt. That said, it’s all certainly within the realm of possibility. What do you think of a Boba Fett film starring Michael B. Jordan? Let us know in the comments below!
