METRO: EXODUS Catches the Last Train Out in the Xbox E3 2017 Briefing

It’s already shaping up to be a big E3 for Xbox, with the full reveal of the Xbox One X. But that’s far from the only thing to be excited about. The first game unveiled at the Xbox 2017 E3 press conference was Metro: Exodus, the sequel to Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light.

Metro: Exodus is based upon the post-apocalyptic novels by Dmitry Glukhovsky, and it places players in Russia after it has been devastated by nuclear fallout. Unfortunately, the creatures still living in Russia only vaguely resemble what they used to be. In this trailer, the main character encounters some nasty mutant rats, and an even scarier mutated bear. Unfortunately, none of the player’s weapons appear to do anything except make the bear even angrier. Sometimes, it’s just better to run!

Rather than fight a losing battle against that bear, the main character elects to catch up with a friend and ride the train to relative safety. But there is no real safety in this survival horror game. According to 4A games, Metro: Exodus will encourage exploration with its non-linear levels and its “epic journey through post-apocalyptic Russia” that will allow players to experience “the entire year cycle from spring, summer, and autumn, to the depths of the nuclear winter.”

Metro: Exodus will be coming to Xbox One, Playstation 4, and PC in 2018.
