DUCKTALES Video Game’s ‘Moon’ Theme Gets the Metal Treatment

Back in 1989, Capcom put some of the key personnel behind the Mega Man series to work on a video game adaptation of Disney’s DuckTales, and the result was one of the best games of the NES era. Hiroshige Tonomura’s music for that title was also highly praised, and his theme for the “Moon” stage has remained popular enough to get several covers on YouTube. That piece of music was even retained for the DuckTales Remastered remake in 2013. Now, the “Moon” theme is going metal!

Eric Calderone (a.k.a. Erock) has dropped his metal take on Tonomura’s “Moon” theme. But apparently, it’s not his first attempt. “This is basically my [third] crack at this tune,” wrote Calderone on his YouTube page. “I recently saw this commented surprisingly more than usual so I figured [third] time’s the charm.”

One of Calderone’s previous attempts came in 2014, when he covered the famous theme for the DuckTales animated series. The “Moon” theme is heard at the 2:50 mark, and there’s also a little taste of Iron Maiden’s “Die With Your Boots On” in there as well.

As you may have guessed, we’re big fans of Calderone’s music, and we’ve recently featured his metal covers of the themes from Rick and Morty, X-Men: The Animated Series, Captain America: The First Avenger, and The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. You can find more of Calderone’s music on his frequently updated YouTube channel or his official site at Metalyze.com.
