MEGA MAN LEGACY COLLECTION Coming This Summer From Capcom

If you are a fan of the classic Nintendo side-scrolling series Mega Man, Capcom is looking to kick start your nostalgia this summer on the next-gen consoles. Fans have wondered for a while if the game company even remembered that they had created the robot-slaying series over the years, and now it seems they want to get their name back in the game before Mighty No. 9 releases in September with the release of The Mega Man Legacy Collection. The collection will consist of the first six titles in the Mega Man series, from the late ’80s titles to the early ’90s that hit the Nintendo Entertainment System. This will be sad news for many of us Mega Man X fans who have hoped to see a return of the Hadouken-weilding version of the blue bomber.

The collection will also include new features previously never seen in the Mega Man series, such as a Museum Mode and a Challenge Mode. Capcom’s release describes these new features as follows.

“Challenge Mode remixes gameplay segments from all six games, with plenty of scaling difficulty objectives for experienced players to conquer yet serving as a good starting point for new players, too. Museum Mode contains a comprehensive collection of history, high-res art and original concept pieces – a mega treat for any fan of Mega Man and video game history.”

The collection feels like an excellent way to finally introduce younger gamers to the series that brought “that blue guy from Smash Bros.” into the gaming world all those years ago. Now, they too can experience the utter frustration we have all come to love.
