It’s perfect synergy: Respawn Entertainment and Spawn creator Todd McFarlane have finally joined forces.

They won’t be making the first ever Titanfall toys—K-Nex has the construction set (i.e. Lego-ish) license, while 3A Toys made some gigantic high-end collectibles that you’ll only ever dream of affording–but McFarlane will actually bring affordable, detailed, non-stylized figures to mainstream U.S. retailers. In even better news, this is a part of a larger McFarlane Toys initiative this year, called the Collector Box Program: simply put, it means McFarlane is going all-in on a collector-focused action figure line in the 7-inch scale that made them famous, and a unified packaging scheme, with other licenses in it set to include Attack on Titan, The Walking Dead, Assassin’s Creed movie, Gears of War, Naruto, Mass Effect, and a revamped Spawn.

The Titanfall figures are billed as being 7 inches in McFarlane’s formal announcement, but a follow-up with the company revealed that this will mean 7-inch pilot figures, and 10-inch Titans with smaller pilots. More should be revealed over the weekend at the New York Toy Fair.

Here are the official details, via press release:

Each figure will stand seven inches tall, have an average of fifteen points of articulation for incredible poses and play action and feature screen accurate accessories and weapons.  The figures will boast the same meticulous level of detail that McFarlane has become known for over the last two decades.

“This is a perfect fit.  McFarlane [Toys] was created so I could make cool stuff just like this,” said Todd McFarlane, Owner and CEO of McFarlane Toys. “Without saying too much about the new game…  You’re not going to believe where we can take this.”

If he has managed to seize back the construction set license from K-Nex, I have a few ideas where he might be going. Certainly, a return to 7″ scale by the company is most welcome, as they can fight it out with NECA and other lines for supremacy on the shelf in a battle won primarily by the buyer.
