This STAR TREK Barbie Comic-Con Exclusive Will Make You Green

Last week, we told you about the Star Trek 50th Anniversary Barbies heading our way soon, with new dolls featuring the likenesess of William Shatner as Captain Kirk, Leonard Nimoy as Mr. Spock, and Nichelle Nichols as Lt. Uhura. Now there is going to be one more additon to the bunch, if you’re one of the lucky attendees at this year’s Comic-Con International–as this year’s SDCC Barbie exclusive from Mattel, the toy company is releasing a doll of one of Star Trek’s most iconic aliens, the green-skinned Orion “animal woman” from the original Trek pilot, “The Cage.”

Actually, the new Barbie doll isn’t really an Orion woman, but it’s the human woman Vina under the illusion of being a green Orion dancer for Captain Christopher Pike, all while under the control of the giant headed aliens from the planet Talos IV. I know that sounds complicated, but seriously, just watch “The Cage” on Netflix; it’ll all make sense.

The Orion Barbie comes dressed in her shimmering metallic gold dancer’s dress, along with her matching gold arm cuff. Maybe the coolest part of this particular Barbie is that she comes in special packaging that looks like an old style television set from the 1960’s, from back when the original Star Trek first hit the airwaves. The collectible doll will be available for pre-order at MattyCollector.com on June 15, 2016 for subscribers only, and from June 16 through June 25 for everyone else. Orders must be picked up in person while at San Diego Comic-Con.

You can check out images of Vina as an Orion Barbie doll, along with her unique packaging, in our gallery below.
