Before Secret Wars, Matt Murdock had no secrets left. His identity as Daredevil was out in the open, and he even wrote an autobiography after he moved back to San Francisco. Eight months later, everyone has once again forgotten that Matt Murdock was Daredevil. Very convenient, Marvel!
But if nobody knows that heâs Daredevil, then Matt Murdock is once again free to practice law in New York City, which is exactly what he doesâin the District Attorneyâs office! Thatâs right, Murdock is now a prosecutor by day and a vigilante by night. And heâs got a stylish new Daredevil costume that tosses out most of his traditional red coloring aside for black.
The biggest change is that Daredevil has his first sidekick, though perhaps “apprentice” is the better word. Marvel has released the first few pages of Daredevil #1, which feature Matt Murdock and the new hero, Blindspot taking on criminals side-by-side. You can check out the pages in our gallery below.
Prolific writer (and actual lawyer) Charles Soule is the new chronicler of Dardevil’s adventures, joined by the criminally unappreciated Ron Garney on art. Garney also provided the main cover image, and the variant covers are by Joe Quesada and Tim Sale. There’s also an action figure variant by John Tyler Christopher, a hip hop inspired cover by Alex Maleev, a Marvel ’92 variant by Larry Stroman, and a cosplay variant. You can also see the covers in our gallery below.
Marvelâs relaunched Daredevil #1 will be released on Wednesday, December 2. In the meantime, check out our interview with Soule from New York Comic Con:
