Marvel’s INCREDIBLE HULK #709 Returns to Planet Hulk (Exclusive Preview)

One of the most popular the Incredible Hulk stories in comics history was 2006’s “Planet Hulk,” which found the jade giant exiled to the far reaches of space by Marvel’s so-called Illuminati, after decades of wanton property damage and busted American military equipment. Bruce Banner ends up on the planet Sakaar, where he is forced to fight gladiator battles for the planet’s emperor, the Red King.

He eventually leads a revolt, becomes the new King, and has a wife and son. Of course, as with most things in Bruce Banner’s life, it all ends tragically, and he ends up back on Earth. At least part of this story will serve as inspiration for Hulk’s role in the upcoming Thor: Ragnarok.

Now, as part of the Marvel Legacy initiative, the Hulk is returning to Sakaar… only it’s not Banner this time, it’s Amadeus Cho, the Totally Awesome Hulk who’s heading out into space. In The Incredible Hulk #709 (newly returned to its original numbering), Amadeus Cho picks up a distress signal from a distant planet, shocked to find out it’s from Sakaar.

This return to the planet Sakaar is brought to us by original “Planet Hulk” writer Greg Pak, and illustrated by Greg Land, and featuring covers by Land. The story is spinning out directly from of the pages of Marvel Legacy #1 and the transformative events of the currently running Marvel: Generations.
