Marvel’s A-FORCE Returns After SECRET WARS

While the outcome of Marvel’s Secret Wars crossover event is still up in the air, at least one thing is certain: A-Force is coming back.

The all-female team of Avengers made its debut in May from writers G. Willow Wilson and Marguerite Bennett, with artist Jorge Molina. The first A-Force story takes place in Arcadia, one of the many territories in Doctor Doom’s Battleworld. There, Baroness She-Hulk leads a team that includes almost all of Marvel’s A-list superheroines.

Marvel’s announcement about the new ongoing A-Force series was very light on details. Wilson will be back as the writer, but Bennett will not. And it’s not clear if Molina will remain as the artist. What we do know is that the new character, Singularity will end up in the new Marvel Universe. The cover released with the announcement also features the core A-Force team: She-Hulk, Captain Marvel, Medusa, Dazzler, and Nico Minoru in their current costumes, as opposed to the A-Force miniseries which allowed Dazzler to keep her classic Disco outfit.

That cover image also implies that other Marvel heroines will have a role to play in the new A-Force. Among the characters pictured are Thor (Jane Foster), Rogue, Storm, Hellcat, Valkyrie, Scarlet Witch, Ms. Marvel, Black Widow, X-23 as  the new Wolverine, Misty Knight, Tigra, and several others.

“It’s a fan’s dream to see these characters with very different background stories having to work together,” said Wilson.

The A-Force ongoing series will debut later this year.
