Marvel-Inspired Designs Are Coming to PROJECT RUNWAY

Some may argue that Project Runway: Under the Gunn is all about superpowers. How do designers make vastly different fabrics work together? And more importantly, how do they find models that can walk in impossible stilettos? Those feats are impressive, but the show is getting a different dose of superhuman abilities tomorrow night, as Marvel Comics comes onto the catwalk.

Yes, you read that correctly. Host Tim Gunn will challenge the show’s contestants to create looks inspired by heroes from the pages of Marvel stories. Characters such as Black Widow, Captain Marvel, Falcon, Hawkeye, The Guardians of the Galaxy will be the muses for the four competing designers, and Lady Sif will appear as a guest judge: Between this and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, Jaimie Alexander is making the rounds.

In case the designers aren’t familiar with the source material, Marvel’s Vice President of Animation Development and Production, Cort Lane, will be on hand as a guest mentor. “Our characters are dramatic, visually exciting and rich with story – and isn’t high fashion all of those things? I got to spend so much time explaining the Marvel characters to the designers – each one of them found something really relatable and inspiring about a Marvel hero,” Lane stated.

Who else will be tuning in to marvel at the superhero fashions? Let us know in the comments.
