Marvel At LEGO’s New Super Hero Sets

The Avengers: Age of Ultron LEGO set had us giggling with almost as much glee as the trailer leak a few months back. There are tiny Avengers with tiny folding legs, and elaborately folding rooms where they change into superheroes, all built from the classic locking together bricks that we know and love to swear over whenever we step on them in our bare feet. And while we saw a lot of great LEGO sets at New York City’s Toy Fair today, the Age of Ultron set might have been our favorite.

All of the Avengers make an appearance in the new set, and while it would be cooler if Scarlett Witch‘s figure just did the magic she’s so known for, the clear lightening bolts they create to represent her awesome power are also pretty awesome. Iron Man is there in his Hulkbuster suit and the angry green man is there too. Given their scale, we’re a little worried that Hulk might be out of his depth with this one, but there is also a more appropriately sized (by comparison) Iron Man for Hulk to knock around when necessary.

Did we mention that the Avengers’ Tower is also included? It’s awesome.

One of the coolest features of the new sets of LEGOs is a launch pad– which comes equipped with the smaller Iron Man above– for fun flicking across the room at unsuspecting playmates. You press down on the plastic platform that Iron Man sits on and when you release it, the whole figure launches across the room so that Iron Man actually seems to fly. Not every figurine in the set comes with this feature, though most of them still provide a sufficient amount of fun regardless.

The Avengers: Age of Ultron Super Heroes set will be available in March. LEGO and Marvel have also teamed up to bring us Ant-Man to go with the upcoming feature film.

And if you are still excited over the news that Spider-Man is again on the Marvel movie-making table, here’s a new Spider-Man set to appease your appetite.
