Idris Elba Will Open for Madonna on her World Tour

For many of you, actor Idris Elba is best known for his television roles on series like The Wire or Luther. Of course, many of you also know him from all his roles in recent nerdalicious movies like Thor, Pacific Rim, Prometheus and the upcoming Star Trek Beyond, in which he’s slated to play the movie’s villain. But did you know that Mr. Elba is also a DJ, producer, and a rapper as well? He’s performed in places as notable as Ibiza and Glastonbury, under the moniker DJ Big Driis, and also sometimes using the name of Big Driis the Londoner.

Well, word of Elba’s musical chops must have reached the ears of pop icon Madonna, because she has asked him to open for the Berlin stops on her current Rebel Heart world tour, on November 10th and 11th. Madonna has had some interesting acts open for her on this tour so far, including comedian Amy Schumer in New York, as well as DJ/producer Diplo (who produced several tracks on her latest album). Whether or not Elba is expected to be rapping or just spinning when opening for Her Madgesty isn’t quite clear, but Madonna tends to prefer having DJ sets as her opening act for most of her tours.

On recent stops on her tour, Madonna has brought some well-known celebs up on stage for a little bit of a public “spanking”. In Los Angeles, it happened with Katy Perry, and before that it was Anderson Cooper. Recently in Prague, Crimson Peak star Jessica Chastain went up on stage and took up Madonna’s offer to spank her with a banana during the singer’s perfomance of her song “Unapolagetic Bitch.” No word yet if Madge is planning on bringing Elba on stage for similar shenanigans, but if you’ve been following Madonna’s career for as long as I have, you know she’s at least considering it.
