Madame Tussauds Brings STAR WARS to Life in London

If you’ve ever wanted to step inside the Star Wars universe, it may be time to book a trip to London.

Madame Tussauds in London has opened a new Star Wars exhibition that features characters from all six movies painstakingly recreated in wax alongside set and prop reproductions straight from the Lucasfilm Archives.

There is an amazing level of detail on these wax figures. It took a team of ten people 1,000 hours to add real yak hair to the Chewbacca statue. And each of the main human characters had real hair added one strand at a time before the figures and the hair were airbrushed to perfection. The final effect is breathtaking.

The Star Wars experience at Madame Tussauds is more than just a static exhibit; fans will get the chance to sit next to Chewbacca in the Millennium Falcon cockpit as the ship makes the jump to lightspeed or sit across from Han Solo in the Cantina Bar from the original Star Wars.

Other recreations at the exhibit include the famous “I am your father” scene from The Empire Strikes Back, with Darth Vader; Luke and Darth Vader’s final battle from Return of the Jedi, the Duel of the Fates from The Phantom Menace with Obi-Wan Kenobi, Qui-Gon Jinn, and Darth Maul; the lightsaber fight on Mustafar between Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan from Revenge of the Sith; and even a spot in Jabba’s Palace with the Hutt himself and Princess Leia in her slave outfit from Return of the Jedi.

Madame Tussauds has also posted a video about the making of the Star Wars exhibition, which provides more insight into the work that went into bringing this to life.
