MAD MAX Uber Cars Rolled Out at PAX Prime in Seattle

Over the weekend, while many people were flocking to Seattle in order to check out the newest happenings in the gaming world at PAX Prime, some also had a chance to get around town in wasteland style.

To promote the upcoming Mad Max video game, Warner Bros. partnered with Uber to send out several Mad Max-style cars to pick up and drop off passengers all across the city. Those that used the popular app had a very good chance of being picked up in some tricked-out wasteland vehicles like these guys:

Uber has really cemented itself in the hearts and minds of the millennial generation as their go-to car service, and promotions like these Mad Max cars are definitely a part of the reason why. Uber has done similar promotions in the past couple of years with major events and conventions to get their name around younger geek culture.

At this year’s San Diego Comic-Con for example, Uber shuttled people to and from the convention, for free, in vehicles meant to promote the new sci-fi TV show Colony on USA. They also offered free rides in their geek-culture-themed Chevy cars at last year’s New York Comic Con.

While these previous promotions have been cool ways for Uber to get their brand recognized, the Mad Max fleet really could lead to a drastic increase in the use of their service, especially with the success of Fury Road and the fact that the film is basically one car chase. One can only wonder what the driving service will do next.
