Macaulay Culkin Channels HOME ALONE Character in :DRYVRS Episode 1

In this age of remakes and reboots, a new Home Alone movie is probably inevitable. But Macaulay Culkin is beating everyone to the punch with an updated version of his character, Kevin McCallister, from the first two Home Alone movies.

Culkin guest starred in the first episode of :DRYVRS, a new comedy web series created by musician and actor Jack Dishel (Only Son). The series follows Dishel’s character as he meets and shares rides with the drivers of an app called :DRYVRS. Think of it as all of your worst Über and Lyft nightmares brought to life.

While neither Culkin’s character nor Dishel explicitly stated that he’s the same Kevin from Home Alone, the intent is clear. And it didn’t take much to get Kevin to recount the infamous time that his family accidentally left him home alone to defend his house against two psychopaths who never, ever swore. Kevin didn’t mention the time that he got lost in New York, though, maybe because he wants to forget Home Alone 2—and the three direct-to-video sequels that followed it—ever happened.

There was also an amusing My Girl reference when Kevin spoke about his wife. Later in the episode, Kevin and Dishel encountered a carjacker, and this Home Alone update quickly took a turn for the Reservoir Dogs.

:DRYVRS was directed by Dishel and Kerry Harris, who appeared in the episode as the carjacker. New episodes of :DRYVRS will premiere on Dishel’s YouTube channel in 2016 with Rosanna Arquette and Steven Weber as special guest stars.
