LUKE CAGE Drops Season 2 Trailer and Release Date

Later this week, Marvel’s Jessica Jones is returning to Netflix for a second season, but she’s not the only Defender on the horizon! Luke Cage is also getting a second season within a few months, and the first teaser trailer has finally arrived. The new footage has absolutely no spoilers about the story, but Mike Colter‘s title hero does call out any potential foes by reminding everyone that he can’t be shot, burned, or broken.

Luke Cage season two will premiere on Friday, June 22, and it will take place a few months after The Defenders finale. Cage is once again a free man and no longer a fugitive from the law. In fact, Cage’s legend in Harlem has only grown since we’ve last seen him. But even an invulnerable man can be beaten. Netflix is hinting that Cage’s newest adversary will test the limits of who he can or can’t save before forcing Cage “to toe the line between hero and villain.”

Simone Missick, Rosario Dawson, Alfre Woodard, and Theo Rossi are all reprising their roles from the first season. New additions to the cast include Mustafa Shakir as John McIver and Gabrielle Dennis as Tilda Johnson, but comic book fans know them better as Bushmaster and the Deadly Nightshade. Thomas Q. Jones will also guest star as a villain named Comanche, while Finn Jones is slated to appear in at least one episode as Iron Fist. It’s unclear if Willis Stryker (Erik LaRay Harvey) will also be back, but we think he’ll eventually resurface because the first season finale hinted that Cage’s malevolent half-brother may gain powers of his own.
