Love Authority Once More Thanks to These Icelandic Instagramming Cops

It’s admittedly a bit of a challenge to find a lot of positive stuff about those tasked to protect and serve, particularly in the past few months. But a quick hop, skip, and jump away from the stateside shenanigans, you will find a treasure trove of good time police antics that read like a television sitcom of delightful silliness: the Reykjavík Metropolitan Police department. Of particular note? Their Instagram account, which is maybe the cutest, most precious instances of “cops behaving badly” that we’ve ever seen.

Look at them! Eating ice cream on the job! Tsk, tsk, Mr. Officerman, that kitten should not be behind the wheel! Posting cartoons that make light of the speed limit? By George! All of this is just the most adorable thing. Also it really makes me want to move to Iceland — not going to lie.

Sure, it may be cold and their de facto treat is fermented shark meat (HARD PASS, thanks), but look at all the fun they have! To say nothing of the fact that there has been but one deadly, police-based shooting in Iceland since it became an independent nation in 1944. ONE! Besides: they’ve got those really sweet hot springs there, and Game of Thrones sometimes calls the place home come shooting time. Admit it: you’re ready to pack your bags and go, aren’t you? It’s OK, we are too — we’re just making sure all of our Bjork and Sigur Rós CDs are in order.

So who’s coming with us and moving to Iceland to marry a logreglan, eh? Let us know in the comments.

of course the ” their de facto treat is fermented shark meat” is just to fuck with foreigners (It’s just an old method of preserving food) only  ever eaten with foreigners to see their face go numb) or at þorrablót  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C3%9Eorrabl%C3%B3t once a year
