As if we weren’t already thrilled about the prospect of Louis C.K. creating an animated film. Now the previously untitled project has a name and a new release date: The Secret Life of Pets will melt our hearts and make us laugh on July 8, 2016 instead of February, 2016.
It’s a push-backânot something we’re usually fans ofâbut in this case probably means good things. February is typically a barren wasteland for film (sorry–it’s true), so a move to the summerâa.k.a. blockbuster timeâbodes well for the film’s hilarity and content.
Sure, that means it will be going up against Star Trek 3, but for our money, we’re sure it’ll still make bank. Because I mean, how could it not? The whole thing co-stars C.K. and Kevin Hart alongside a veritable smorgasbord of funny people like Ellie Kemper, Hannibal Buress, Jenny Slate, Albert Brooks, Lake Bell, Eric Stonestreet, and Bobby Moynihan. All of whom are very likely to play either some seriously demented and delightful fuzzy animals (or the bumbling humans that love them). Louis C.K.’s cutting insight in the form of a dog? Yup, yes please and also thank you for this gift.
The script comes from Despicable Me writers Cinco Paul and Ken Daurio, too, so you know it’s bound to be a witty bit of delightful silliness. So go ahead and say it with me now, Internet:
SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY.
What sort of Louis C.K.-style insights will his little dog have? Let’s hear ’em in the comments. Bonus points if you meme Louis C.K.-isms on top of Doge pictures (MAKE IT SO INTERNET, MAKE IT SO).
