Lonely Island Shares 2 New POPSTAR Songs, “I’m So Humble” and “Mona Lisa”

The Lonely Island is in the midst of promoting their new disillusioned-pop-star comedy Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping, and the Andy Samberg-portrayed protagonist Conner4Real has it all: “32 people on his personal payroll,” his “Connfidants” fanbase, and, as of today, actual songs.

Last night, Conner4Real teased from his Twitter account, “Me and @zaynmalik always have the same ideas. Midnight it goes down. #midnightshowdown,” referring to Zayn releasing a new music video Monday evening. Now, The Lonely Island has premiered a couple songs from the film’s soundtrack on Spotify, “I’m So Humble” and “Mona Lisa.”

“I’m So Humble” was teased in the movie’s trailer, which featured two hologram Adam Levines dancing provocatively with each other. The lyrics are of course right in line with Conner4Real’s blissfully unaware narcissism: “Bar none, I am the most humble-est / Number one at the top of the humble list / My apple crumble is by far the most crumble-est / But I act like it tastes bad out of humbleness,” going on to say that “The thing about me that’s so impressive is how infrequently I mention all of my successes.”

Inversely, “Mona Lisa” is a sort of antithesis to “I’m So Humble,” as it is essentially a smear campaign against the painting and its subject: “Mona Lisa, you’re an overrated piece of s*** / With your terrible smile and your dead shark eyes, and a smirk like you’re hiding a d***.”

Watch the film’s (NSFW) trailer below, and let us know in the comments which of the new songs you like better.
