LEGEND OF ZELDA: BREATH OF THE WILD Teasers Show off Gameplay, Exploration, and Weather

We’ve been salivating over how great we expect The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will be for the past few months now, whether it’s obsessing over the first big trailer or exploring how big the world’s supposedly huge map is. Today, Nintendo has confirmed those suspicions, at least in terms of how the games looks, with a trio of teaser videos that show off gameplay, exploration, and weather.

In short, we’re on board. There seem to be some interesting game mechanics, like fanning your boat’s sail with a giant leaf to propel yourself forward, chasing frogs, climbing on walls, hang-gliding, and even snowboarding. All of these will likely be necessary at different times exploring the huge world, which appears to include everything from ruins to snowy slopes to vast plains. Of course, it all looks gorgeous, as shown in the video at the bottom of this post, which is simply a fixed-angle tech demo demonstrating the different weather states, everything from sunny afternoons to rain and thunder to a breezy dusk.

The graphics depicted in these videos, by the way, are all taken from the Wii U version of the game, which is currently in development, according to Nintendo’s Japanese website. The game is also coming out on the Nintendo NX… or should we say Nintendo Switch, as the company’s next console was revealed to be named this morning. The trailer for the console, which stayed true to the hype of being a hybrid portable console, includes footage of Breath of the Wild, so find out more about Nintendo Switch, which comes out March 2017, here, and watch some footage of the upcoming Zelda title below.
