Learn to Draw PEANUTS’ Woodstock For Draw A Bird Day

For every day of the year, there’s an offbeat holiday and April 8th is Draw A Bird Day. According to legend, 7-year old Dorie Cooper went to visit her wounded uncle and together they lifted each other’s spirits by drawing pictures of birds. A few years later, Dorie was hit by a car and killed, and ever since then April 8th was celebrated as Draw A Bird day — a day to celebrate life, both avian and human alike.

Today The Peanuts Movie is celebrating Draw A Bird Day by releasing a brand new character poster of everyone’s favorite fine feathered sidekick, Woodstock! The poster reflects the style of the state-of-the-art 3D animation that will be featured in The Peanuts Movie, which hits theaters this November.

While we wait for Charlie Brown, Snoopy and the whole Peanuts gang to come to life on the big screen, director Steve Martino shows us how you can draw your very own Woodstock for Draw A Bird Day. Pro-tip for drawing Woodstock: he has a giant head twice the size of his body.

Watch the video, draw your own Woodstock, then share on Twitter and Instagram with the hashtag #DrawWoodstock. Happy Draw A Bird Day, everyone!
