Lea Seydoux Offered Female Lead in GAMBIT

This November, Lea Seydoux will be going toe to toe with Daniel Craig‘s James Bond as one of the femme fatales in the series’ 24th film, Spectre. And next year she will likely be kicking ass again, but this time going up against Channing Tatum’s mutant powers in the X-Men spinoff Gambit.

Seydoux, it is reported, has been offer the role of Belladonna Boudreaux, Gambit’s childhood sweetheart from Louisiana. But it’s a little bit more complicated than that, as Boudreaux grows up to eventually lead—spoiler alert?—the Assassins Guild, an enemy group of Gambit’s (Remy Lebeau) Thieves guild. Think of it as two rival mob families, except with mutant powers, and when bodies “disappear,” it’s for real—because they are more than likely vaporized.

Seydoux was on a short list for the role, which also included Abby Lee from Mad Max: Fury Road and Rebecca Ferguson from Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation. Ferguson eventually dropped out after getting one of the lead roles in Dreamworks‘ The Girl on the Train, which I am okay with that because now we can start a campaign to get Paramount to begin pre-production on the Ilsa Faust spin-off we all really want to see already.

You can see Seydoux in Spectre, also starring Daniel Craig and Dave Bautista, and directed by Sam Mendes when it releases in theatres November 6, 2015. Gambit, starring Channing Tatum and directed by Rupert Wyatt, will be released in theaters October 7, 2016.

So what do you think? Is Seydoux a good fit with the X-Man’s suave Cajun? Will Channing Tatum STEP UP to Lea’s challenge? Did you like all of these corny puns? Let me know on Twitter or in the comments below.
