Latest FANTASTIC BEASTS AND WHERE TO FIND THEM Clip Reveals a New Beast!

Ready for a spot of magic? Then, you’ve come to the right place! Because today’s Movie Morsels has the third clip from this holiday season’s Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, and it introduces one of the most prominent (if diminutive) critters in the film. We’ve also got the latest casting news on The Predator, word on a Starship Troopers remake (wha?!), and a whole lot more fun for you good people…

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them

How important is Pickett the Bowtruckle in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them? Well, since Newt Scamander himself, actor Eddie Redmayne, has said in interviews that it’s his favorite of the film’s many far-out creatures, I’m guessing it’s pretty darn important. Also, it’s the star of the latest clip from J.K. Rowling’s newest screen fantasy epic, and it features Redmayne and his co-star Dan Fogler (as Newt’s Mo-Maj buddy Jacob Kowalski). Enjoy!

The Predator

G4 hostess-turned-film star Olivia Munn demonstrated a penchant for big-screen badassery in this summer’s X-Men: Apocalypse, and her role as Psylocke did not go unnoticed by writer-director Shane Black. Munn is now in talks to join the cast of Black’s The Predator. Munn’s role is said to be that of a scientist opposite Boyd Holbrook’s character, a “Special Forces commando.” The film, which has been called “Predator goes to suburbia,” is expected to start shooting in February.

Office Christmas Party

I’ve always had a thing for office Christmas parties, probably because one such event led to the first date I ever had with my wife. And there’s something about the combination of coworkers, booze, and goodwill that often leads to hilarity. Or unemployment. In any case, the latest trailer for Office Christmas Party has me even more excited for this Yuletide extravaganza featuring many of today’s top comic actors…

Starship Troopers

Well, they remade Paul Verhoeven’s Robocop and Total Recall, so you didn’t really think they weren’t going to remake his next most popular sci-fi film, did you? Yes, the Starship Troopers reboot is finally moving forward, with Baywatch movie screenwriters Mark Swift and Damian Shannon now tackling the script. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Columbia “is not remaking the film but is said to be going back to the original [Robert] Heinlein novel for an all-new take.” Since Heinlein’s novel, though entertaining, posits exactly the kind of fascist future Verheoeven’s film satirized, does this mean that it will jettison all the humor and irony from the original like the aforementioned redos did? Eh, we’ll always have Casper Van Dien’s Johnny Rico…

Wilson

Finally today… Graphic novelist Dan Clowes is unquestionably one of his medium’s living masters, but his film career has been uneven. Terry Zwigoff’s adaptation of his Ghost World (which Clowes scripted) was an indie hit, but the duo’s follow-up, Art School Confidential (based on Clowes’ short story), was rather meh. So how will Wilson, the latest movie based on Clowes’ work (again adapted by the cartoonist), pan out? Star Woody Harrelson usually has excellent taste in projects, so this should fare quite well indeed! Here’s the red band trailer for the film, about a middle-aged misanthrope who learns he may have a teenage daughter. Impolite hilarity ensues…
