Kirsten, Kite, and The (Dark) Knight: The Week In Podcasts

Time for the week’s Nerdist Podcast Network recap, it is, with glories like these:

Kirsten Dunst did the Nerdist Podcast as her turn in the second season of Fargo kicked off, talking to Chris about her year off from acting — she’s writing and is about to announce her directorial debut, which is pretty damn cool. Also, she reminisced about her childhood (New Jersey to L.A.), living in the Valley, Halloween, and, yeah, Spider-Man, because how could we NOT hear about Spider-Man?

Jonathan Kite plays Oleg on 2 Broke Girls, but he’s also a terrific stand-up comic (without that accent, by the way), and he dropped by the Nerdist Podcast for a talk about working retail, underwear that’s fun to wear, doing stand-up in China, ’80s comedy, theme restaurants, and air travel. It gets truly weird, which is a good thing.

Writer/Producer David Goyer (Batman Begins, Dark Knight Rises, Blade) chatted with Chris and Matt on the Nerdist Podcast (posting Friday) to talk about his movies and Starz original series DaVinci’s Demons. It’s a parade of stories about all the movies he’s worked on, from cult favorites like Dark City (Chris’ pick) to writing for Jean-Claude Van Damme to the script for the Nick Fury movie that never made it through development hell as written, but… well, you have to listen to find out how David Hasselhoff figures into it. And there’s the Dark Knight trilogy and a lot more.

We heard more of your paranormal activity stories on Bizarre States. It’s an “experimental” edition, “O.P.P.: Other People’s Paranormal,” with some more production and more of your stories read by Jessica. Reverb and music and sound effects!

Noted Akronite and Cleveland Indians fan Rhea Butcher talked about her formative years on The JV Club. And hair. And airports, and Japanese toilets, and Brutus the Buckeye, and sexuality, and much more.

Wayne Federman came by the showroom to guest on The Todd Glass Show — Wayne has a new CD that chronicles 30 years of his standup, The Chronicles of Federman, which you should get.

Chris Gethard, Jake Hurwitz andAmir Blumenfeld, and Fortune Feimster joined Pete for a live You Made It Weird from JFL Toronto.

Producer Rich Perello discussed the vagaries of preproduction for Super Troopers 2 on Chewin’ It. Stories abound, and amidst the comedy, we got a real feel for what it’s like to shoot on location (including getting locations in the first place, lack of bathrooms, and getting the, ahem, unusual props needed for the kind of movies the guys make).

Matt Knudsen made a return visit to Cash Withdrawal, with more on “going blue” onstage, Sizzler, “pre-emptive casts,” Gwayne the high school ball player who broke his wrist and swung with one arm, and…. well, of COURSE it rambled. That’s what the show is about.

Joe DeRosa came back for another “Emotional Hang” on The K Ohle, including some deep thoughts about adult friendships, handling the end of a hang, and tubing on what passes for the L.A. River.

Jason Reitman, Zander Lehmann, Helen Estabrook, and Liz Tigelaar talked about their Hulu series Casual on Nerdist Writers Panel.

Graham Reznick and Larry Fessenden, writers of the game Until Dawn and a whole bunch of other stuff you know and love, visited The Indoor Kids to talk games, movies, and Ron Perlman, because why not talk about Ron Perlman as much as possible. Watch out for Until Dawn spoilers late in the show (but you’ll know before they come, so it’s reasonably safe if you haven’t finished the game).

Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension star Chris Murray compared facts with Razzle on Today We Learned, including buying fake tickets for concerts, missing airplane tickets, lots of tickets.

Crunch Fitness instructor Colin Kim traded professional wisdom with Tom on Pro You.

And on two new episodes of Sex Nerd Sandra, we met the makers of the documentary Give Me Sex Jesus, and our own Kyle Hill examined sexual harassment at cons.

Hear it all at the Nerdist Podcast Network homepage and Facebook page. Oh, and congratulations if tickets to that movie you obtained. I know how hard it must have been. I mean, EVERYONE wants to see the new Alvin and the Chipmunks sequel, right?
