Kingpin Is Coming To Netflix’s DAREDEVIL

Following a crazy weekend that saw an Ant-Man director finally get locked in and confirmed by Marvel, things are now moving right along with the company’s upcoming TV adaptation of Daredevil for Netflix. Most recently, original writer Drew Goddard left the project in favor of his Sinister Six film at Sony, and was replaced by Spartacus boss Steven S. DeKnight as showrunner. In addition, it was confirmed Boardwalk Empire’s Charlie Cox would play the man without fear in the new series. Now, with the two most important news bits covered, things move to the question of supporting cast, and today we get our answer to one of the most important pieces of the Daredevil puzzle.

Marvel has confirmed via their official site that not only will Daredevil foe Kingpin appear in the series, but he’s also been cast. Vincent D’Onofrio (Jurassic World, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, The Cell) will play the famous villain “Wilson Fisk, a powerful businessman whose interests in the future of Hell’s Kitchen will bring him into conflict with the blind attorney Matt Murdock and his alter ego Daredevil.”

Now, can D’Onofrio top Michael Clarke Duncan’s underrated performance in the critically panned 2003 adaptation? Hopefully so, and based on that description, it seems the series will be as much an origin story for Kingpin as it is for Murdock himself. Interestingly enough, nowhere in the official press release does Marvel actually call Fisk by his famous name.
