The Kingdom Hearts series has secured a place in our hearts as a perfect combination of two of the things we love the most: video games and Disney. We love it so much that we can almost forgive the fourteen year wait between Kingdom Hearts II and its true sequel, Kingdom Hearts III. As announced at last night Kingdom Hearts Orchestra concert in Los Angeles, the highly anticipated game has been pushed back to January 29, 2019. And at the Microsoft E3 2018 press conference, we finally got a chance to see a brand new trailer for the game.
The primary focus of this trailer is the new Frozen inspired world that takes Sora, Donald Duck, and Goofy into Arendelle, where they encounter Elsa for the first time. And it appears that their quest in that world will be to prevent Elsa’s heart from becoming corrupted. Anna, Olaf, and Kristoff also make an appearance in the trailer as the game’s heroic trio get used to the cold.
For the first time, Kingdom Hearts III will be visiting Pixar worlds as well, including Toy Story and Monsters, Inc., both of which are glimpsed in the new trailer. However, Tangled‘s Rapunzel also gets a few key moments in the footage, and we see the return of Hercules. More ominously, we see what’s become of Aqua when Mickey and Riku finally find her.
