King Kong Welcomes Brie Larson to KONG: SKULL ISLAND

Last month, actress Brie Larson was linked to a leading role in Kong: Skull Island, the upcoming King Kong prequel movie directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts. Yesterday, Larson confirmed her participation in the movie. Or more accurately, King Kong himself confirmed the news!

Larson posted a note to twitter that was supposedly written by the silver screen’s most famous giant ape. “Brie, welcome to the jungle. Love, King Kong.”

Details about Larson’s part in the movie have not been disclosed. Previously, Larson co-starred in United States of Tara on Showtime in addition to several feature films including Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, The Trouble with Bliss, 21 Jump Street, Short Term 12, The Spectacular Now, The Gambler (pictured above), and Trainwreck. Larson also had a recurring guest role on Community.

Aside from Larson, Tom Hiddleston (Thor) and Corey Hawkins (The Walking Dead) are the only performers confirmed for Kong: Skull Island. Michael Keaton and J.K. Simmons both dropped out of the film earlier this year. Samuel L. Jackson is reportedly in negotiations to join Kong: Skull Island, with Russell Crowe, John C. Reilly, and Tom Wilkinson also said to be in contention for roles in the film.

Universal Pictures and Legendary have yet to reveal story details about Kong: Skull Island, but it will take place before the King Kong movie, which has been remade twice. The most recent iteration of King Kong arrived in 2005 from director Peter Jackson.

Kong: Skull Island will be released on March 10, 2017.
