Hey Star Wars fans, the time is come: choose you must — to be spoiled or not spoiled. Because this post contains a major one in regards to not only The Force Awakens but also the later movies to come. So! To remain blissfully ignorant, navigate away from this post now. Don’t say we didn’t warn you! This is a super-mega spoilerville situation.

Still with us, oh brave soul? OK, good. Because we are but two weeks out from the opening of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and today’s news concerns everyone’s new favorite character from The Force Awakens: Captain Phasma of the First Order. Why? She looks cool, sounds cool, and is played by actress Gwendoline Christie, who we all already love as the equally badass Brienne of Tarth on Game of Thrones.

In an interview with the Los Angeles Times about the women of Star Wars, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy confirms that Phasma will not follow the Boba Fett/Darth Maul route, and be that cool character who then gets killed off unceremoniously—like a red shirt on Star Trek. Kennedy confirmed she “has big plans for Phasma” and promised she’ll be back. “She’s an important character, a baddie in the best sense of the word.”

Of her character, Christie says, “the reason I love my character so much and I feel so enthusiastic about Capt. Phasma is, yes, she’s cool, she looks cool, she’s a villain — but more than that, we see a female character and respond to her not because of the way she looks. We respond to her because of her actions. I think we’re a society that has promoted a homogenized idea of beauty in women — and in men — and I think it’s really interesting, modern and necessary to have a female character that isn’t about the way her body looks. It isn’t about her wearing makeup. It’s not about her being conventionally feminized. The idea of this enormous legacy and franchise embracing an idea like that, which of course to many of us feels logical, is actually really progressive. And long overdue.”

Although the Star Wars franchise has given us one of the best female characters in movie history in the form of Princess Leia (as well as the Clone Wars‘ Ahsoka Tano) the movies have been woefully short any having anything but one real female character per trilogy. Thank the Maker that this new trilogy has changed that rule for the better, and we’ll be getting more Phasma badassery for several more movies to come.
