Kanye West and Kendrick Lamar Finally Collaborate on “No More Parties In L.A.”

If you’re not completely caught up on your Kanye West news, here’s what’s been going on over the past few weeks: In early January, Kanye finally announced the release date of his highly anticipated album Swish: February 11. On January 8, Kanye dropped a new track on Soundcloud called “Real Friends,” which doubled as a diss track directed towards Nike.

That brings us to today, and Kanye has shared another new song on Soundcloud, but this time, he brought Kendrick Lamar along with him. The song is called “No More Parties in L.A.,” and Kendrick Lamar has a guest verse, meaning that two of the biggest names in contemporary hip-hop got together on a track for the first time.

Kendrick’s here, yes, but Kanye totally dominates the funky, soulful track with a hefty 90-bar verse. Although “No More Parties in L.A.” came out today, a Monday, the song is part of Kanye’s plan to release a new song every Friday until the release of Swish.

Kanye’s wife Kim Kardashian explained the delay for this track, saying that Kanye had to fly to Italy for work related to his fashion line, but that he brought produced Noah Goldstein along with him and they headed to the studio as soon as they got off the plane. Kardashian also said that Kanye “wrote 90 bars on the plane there,” which could mean he either wrote his entire part of the song on the flight, or he wrote 90 bars, some of which may or may not have been used on the song.

Listen to “No More Parties in L.A.” below, and let us know in the comments what you think of the collaboration.
