LEGO Unveils New JURASSIC WORLD: FALLEN KINGDOM Sets

In the first of LEGO‘s new sets pegged to the upcoming Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, the dinos are up to their old wall-busting habits once again. Considering two of the figures included are an adult dilophosaurus (spitter) and a baby, we’re guessing somebody tried to split up a dino-family and the prehistoric beasties are none too happy about it.

The set above is called Dilophosaurus Outpost Attack, and it features “exploding gate and wall functions.” The three minifigs included are simply named Guard, Guard, and Tracker, so no, that’s probably not Bryce Dallas Howard with new hair dye. Cool syringe-gun, though.

The second set we’re revealing today is a pair of BrickHeadz, LEGO’s variation on the kind of stylized vinyl figures that are everywhere these days, but buildable from bricks. To kick off this movie series, we’re getting Owen and his raptor pal Blue.

It looks almost like this Owen could be Mario to Blue’s Yoshi. What with LEGO being LEGO, it’s almost certainly customizable in ways that would allow the hero to actually ride the dino. Sure, it’d be non-canonical, but just imagining Chris Pratt yelling out “Mamma mia! It’s-a me, Owen!” is putting a smile on my face right now. Frankly, the live-action Super Mario movie’s Yoshi looked like he could have been related to Blue, distantly. Just like the way the movie was distantly related to the game… but hey, it’s still lovable on its own terms. And we’re hoping Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom will be too!
