JURASSIC WORLD Comes to Life in First Mysterious Trailer

Over the weekend, Universal gave us a taste of things to come with our first look at footage from the highly anticipated reactivation of the Jurassic Park franchise, Jurassic World. At the end of the trailer teaser, Universal said they would reveal the full length trailer on Thanksgiving day… but it seems they were just as excited as we were, because they jumped the gun this morning and released it early! Now, we can all take a trip back in time together and watch the new trailer:

Executive produced by Steven Spielberg and directed by Colin Trevorrow, the latest installment in the dinosaur-laden franchise looks absolutely stellar based on what we see here, and we love the Jaws-like angle of keeping the big bad dino a secret for now. As they often say: less is more, and less is what we got… of the dinosaur, that is.

What the trailer does focus on are the human characters that will serve a prominent role in the new film, specifically Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard. He’s no Star-Lord, but this Owen guy has all the shades of what made Dr. Alan Grant (Sam Neil) a brainy badass. (Plus, it’d be boring to see the same character all over again, right? Right.) And Howard’s Claire seems like the kind of strong, smart, capable character we love to see on screen.

With a touch of nostalgia, recognizable archetypes, and enough new intrigue to whet our appetites, the new trailer has us optimistic about what the next Jurassic Park installment holds.

Jurassic World hits theaters June 12, 2015.
