JOHN WICK: CHAPTER 2 Posters Prepare Us for Gun-Toting Mayhem (Exclusive)

Can you believe it!? It’s only a few days until the return of everyone’s favorite puppy-loving professional bad-ass John Wick! We were floored at his unrivaled skills when he came out of Baba Yaga retirement in the first film, so we’re bracing ourselves for whatever bullet-ridden calamity he finds himself in during the events of the follow-up. In the meantime, we’ll happily settle for staring at these exclusive John Wick: Chapter 2 posters as if they were some sort of movie mayhem vision boards.

This first one, by British artist Jock, is a dark look into John Wick himself and the anger he must feel having been, once again, pulled back into the life he vowed to leave behind. If you take a look at the work on Jock’s site or Instagram, you may notice a very deliberate use of color. When utilized, it’s done in high contrast to the rest of the pieces resulting in a more emotional impact. The use of the color red in the John Wick piece is restrained and only in the background except for the smallest glint of crimson in John’s right eye. We can assume the background is the bloody aftermath of his particular skill set but his eye is different. We’re captivated in wondering if it’s merely an injury, an expression of his rage, or a combination of both.

The second poster is an entirely different affair. Created by L.A. tattoo artist Noah Minuskin, this poster exudes all the power we’d expect to see in Wick and shares glimpses of the events of the upcoming film. Minuskin’s work is absolutely statuesque (sometimes literally) and is appropriate for Wick’s travels to Rome in the sequel.

Perhaps we’re overanalyzing but we can’t help but notice a few things in this poster. Wick is shown slightly above center, powerfully pointing a gun, which is exactly how we’d expect him to be in almost all situations. Over his shoulders are the words of his tattoo that translate to “fortune favors the bold” and beams of sunlight shine down on him that seem to tell us his mission is a righteous one (at least for his moral code). Below him are his beloved dog and car that are the two things in his life he holds dear and has a duty to protect. And below that, everything stands on a scene of destruction that could be considered the foundation of Wick’s life itself. Altogether, it’s a snapshot of a modern-day anti-hero of mythical proportions displayed in a style that’s reminiscent of Renaissance sculpture. Fitting for the incredible situations John Wick finds himself in.

Both posters are incredible works of art that, as of the writing of this article, aren’t available to order yet but Jock’s website does have a store. Minuskin’s site is primarily focused on his body artwork so, at the very least, you could probably get this John Wick piece tattooed on your back. Ooh! It’s almost like tattoo inception!

Which one is your favorite? Let’s discuss in the comments below!
