John Wick 2 has already begun production in New York City, and Keanu Reevesâ title character isnât the only one whoâs back! Several performers from 2014âs John Wick will return for the sequel alongside a new set of characters.
Among the returning cast members, John Leguizamo is reprising his role as Aurelio, the owner of a high end chop shop; with Lance Reddick as Charon, a concierge at the Continental Hotel; and Tom Sadowski as Jimmy. Ian McShane was previously announced as another returning actor, and he will reprise his role as Winston, the owner of the Continental Hotel. Bridget Moynahan will also reprise her role as Johnâs late wife, Helen Wick, presumably in a flashback.
The new additions to John Wick 2 are Ruby Rose (Resident Evil: The Final Chapter), Riccardo Scamarcio (Burnt), and Peter Stormare (22 Jump Street). Details on their characters were not announced, but rapper/actor/Oscar winner Common is slated to portray one of the filmâs major villains.
John Wick was released in theaters last year, where it grossed only $43 million in America against a $130 million global total. However, the film found an audience on home video and it has quickly become a cult classic action movie, which paved the way for the sequel. The first film followed John Wickâs quest for revenge as the ex-hitman was pulled back into the criminal underworld when Russian mobsters killed his dog and stole his car.
Director Chad Stahelski and screenwriter Derek Kolstad are both back onboard for John Wick 2. A release date has not been yet announced.
