John Oliver’s Commercial Hijacks GAME OF THRONES and CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM

It’s going to be a momentous year for HBO in 2017, with the return of the biggest show in the world, Game of Thrones, the fourth season for one of its most popular comedies, Silicon Valley, and the long-awaited return of one of the best shows in television history, Curb Your Enthusiasm.

Oh, yeah, and if you aren’t exhausted from constantly having to hear dire warnings from a funny man with a British accent, Last Week Tonight with John Oliver will also be coming back. Even if the network’s own commercial isn’t super excited for it.

The new promo for the fourth season of the half-hour satirical news comedy is full of other HBO shows, and it’s one of the best ads they’ve ever done. Because every time Oliver thought the narrator was pumping up the return of his show, he sadly realized it was one of those other show’s that were actually being promoted.

A fact that Silicon Valley‘s Kumail Nanjiani was only far too happy to point out.

But as funny as that segment was, even more exciting was when Oliver ran into Larry David, who is returning for a new season of Curb Your Enthusiasm after five years, and we got to find out just exactly where David has been all that time. So what’s he been so busy doing, that it kept Curb off the air?

“Things.”

What a scoop for Last Week Tonight!

It’ll be tough for the show to top this promo, but they’ll try when it returns with its new season on Sunday, February 12 at 11:00 p.m.
