Jim from THE OFFICE May Join GOD PARTICLE, J.J. Abrams’ Latest

Oh boy, we bet Pam is going to have something to say about this– if, y’know, Pam from The Office were a real person and not a character. Fortunately for all of us, Jim is fake, but John Krasinski is very real — and he’s allegedly in talks to join J.J. Abrams‘ next sci-fi thriller, the David Oyelowo and Gugu Mbatha-Raw fronted film, God Particle.

Nerdist has reached our for independent confirmation but had not heard back at the time of publication. But we certainly hope this report, originally from Variety, is a real-deal situation, because the pairing of Krasinski and Abrams feels too right to be wrong.

The Julius Onah-directed thriller is said to focus on a team of astronauts from our near-future, fighting for survival as they grapple with a discovery so hugely terrifying, it apparently challenges everything they know about the fabric of reality itself. So, y’know, real casual, not-at-all heady stuff.

Or, as Jim would likely put it:

And we’d be remiss if we didn’t mention how happy it makes us to see Krasinski—who’s generally known for being the funnyman straightdude in many of his roles—get a bit more serious (and, likely, stressed out). His turn in the Michael Bay film 13 Hours certainly started him down a more diverse career path, so we’re looking forward to seeing him take a trip into space and out of his comfort zone some more.

But what do you think about how the God Particle is shaping up? Let us know in the comments below.

And since we’re talking about J.J. Abrams, we’d be remiss to not bring up this sweet, sweet interview Dan Casey did with him when that teeny, tiny film of his—Star Wars: The Force Awakens—debuted:
