John Barrowman Promoted to CW DC Series Regular and More TV Stories

Welcome back to the work week, everyone! With Star Wars Celebration, San Diego Comic-Con, and the Television Critics Association summer press tour happening in the coming weeks, we’re going to have entertainment news coming out of our ears. But that doesn’t mean nothing’s happening now. In today’s TV-Cap, we have updates on John Barrowman’s role on the The CW’s DC shows, word about a Gilmore Girls press event, some Doctor Who and Game of Thrones tribute videos, and more.

He’s Everywhere. John Barrowman’s Malcolm Merlyn has been causing trouble for Oliver Queen and company since the first season of Arrow. You never know exactly which side he’s going to be on, and that unpredictability keeps you on your toes. And now the self-serving character will be a factor on The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow. He’s been promoted to series regular on those shows in addition to Arrow, which means he’s going to be one busy guy. I don’t even want to think about the scheduling logistics involved. [Nerdist]

Looking Back. Need to scratch your Doctor Who itch? New episodes won’t arrive for a while (next spring, to be exact), but this tribute video to the modern era by TheGaroStudio will help tide you over. I have timey wimey fuzzy feelings now. [Nerdist]

No More Secrets. Syfy has canceled Hunters. The finale of the 13-episode first/only season will air tonight, July 11. [Deadline]

They’re Back…Almost. The British TV series The Wombles is on its way to coming back. Series creator Mike Batt is hard at work on a CGI reboot, and he’s scored a new cast member: Ray Winstone will voice Tobermory. Learn more here at Nerdist.

What an Entrance. Gotham showrunner Danny Cannon used Twitter to confirm the status of Fish Mooney. Patient 13 is apparently alive and kicking, and I’m guessing she’s going to be a whole lot of fun in season three. It’s up to you to decide what I mean by “fun.” [Comic Book Resources]

News, Maybe? Netflix’s Gilmore Girls revival has set its first press event. Lauren Graham, Alexis Bledel, Amy Sherman-Palladino, and others will attend the Television Critics Association press tour on July 27. Maybe they’ll announce the premiere date? Or release a teaser? Both? I need to know! [TVLine]

Don’t Make Her Angry. If there’s one lesson I took away from this Game of Thrones supercut starring Daenerys Targaryen, it’s not to upset her. She’s fierce, quick-tempered, and also rather quotable. I’d follow her based on this video alone. [Nerdist]

Toy Cosplay! Comic-Con exclusives aren’t easy to score, but some Funko Pop! toys for Teen Titans Go! might make you want to wait in a long line. The trio of vinyl exclusives feature Robin, Starfire, and Raven dressed as other superheroes—Batman, Flash, and Wonder Woman. Their costumed stylings are from an episode of the series. See the above clip; it’s fantastic. Get a look at the vinyl figures here at Nerdist.

Out and Out. Two shows beginning with “Out” aired over the weekend, and we have recaps so you can catch up. The most recent Outcast focused on Kyle’s personal journey, while the Outlander season two finale jumped around the timeline. Did you watch the episodes? Head to the comments and tell me what you thought.

Are you looking forward to seeing Malcolm Merlyn show up in all the things? Let me know in the comments.
