Joe Quesada Talks IRON FIST and LUKE CAGE at DAREDEVIL Premiere

The fourth Marvel Netflix series, Iron Fist, is finally moving forward with Finn Jones (Game of Thrones) in the title role and showrunner Scott Buck (Dexter). But according to Marvel’s Chief Creative Officer, Joe Quesada, the Iron Fist series won’t simply rehash the tone and the setting of Daredevil or Jessica Jones.

“It’s still the early stages of Iron Fist so I’m a little hesitant to say too much more than that,” said Quesada while speaking to Decider at the world premiere of Daredevil season 2. “But Danny Rand is a completely different character and the world that he comes from, how he obtained his powers and his skills — all completely different. I think fans will be pleased…I think the Danny Rand character himself will have a different perspective on the world than some of the characters that you’re seeing now — as will Luke Cage.”

After the first season of Daredevil, many comic fans have theorized that Madame Gao had ties to Iron Fist, since her heroin products bore the symbol of Steel Serpent, one of Iron Fist’s enemies. That would go a long way towards explaining how Gao manhandled Daredevil and inspired fear and respect from Wilson Fisk.

Quesada also emphasized that Luke Cage will take place in different parts of New York. “We’re not just locking ourselves into Hell’s Kitchen, although a lot of stuff does go on in Hell’s Kitchen,” explained Quesada. “Luke Cage’s world is still New York, but it’s a different neighborhood. Again, I don’t want to reveal too much more than that, but the show itself will have a different palate, a different feel, a tone. It will sound different. So stay tuned.”
