Jason Momoa in Talks for Remake of THE CROW

Few action stars are as delightfully beefy as Jason Momoa, and few are quite as adept at actually acting. We all know how he did as Khal Drogo in the first season of HBO’s Game of Thrones, but he was also literally the only good thing about the Conan the Barbarian remake from several years ago. And we’ve been stoked for his take on Arthur Curry in the Justice League and solo Aquaman flicks since the beginning. We’re early Momoadopters. So when news of Momoa being in talks to possibly headline the remake of The Crow broke, we collectively said “Woohoo!”

Mashable broke the news that Momoa was in talks to take on the lead role in remake based on James O’Barr’s graphic novel, which will be directed by Corin Hardy, director of the indie horror hit The Hallow, following an Instagram photo of the two together with the hashtags “#sealthedeal,” “#greatnewstocome,” and “#dreamjob.”

Nerdist has reached out to Relativity Media for confirmation but has not received a response at time of publication.

This would be a major get for the actor and the project, which has been a floundering franchise since the 1994 original. That film starred Brandon Lee in his final performance, following an on set accident involving a firearm which resulted in his death. There have been multiple sequels starring the likes of Vincent Perez, Eric Mabius, and Edward Furlong in the title role, and a short-lived television spinoff starring Marc Dacascos. The title is desperate for some star power, and who better than the soon-to-be King of Atlantis to pick up another long-derided hero’s mantle?

We should add that this is still unofficial, but would definitely be cool if it were true.
