It’s Not Just POP Vinyls – Actual DARK CRYSTAL Action Figures Are on the Way!

Oh, Funko, you already had us in awe with the stylized POP Vinyl figures, more detailed than most of their siblings on the great Hot Topic wall o’ toys. But now you’re doing action figures from The Dark Crystal too? And because the movie was all puppets and you don’t need actor likenesses, the toys look just like the movie characters?

Pardon us while we regain composure. There are few movies more suited to toys than Jim Henson and Brian Froud’s puppet fantasy, and yet so few toys that have actually been made, until now. NECA made one Skeksis, but under the umbrella of its retro-action lines, Funko is poised to do a whole lot more.

Here’s the more challenging news: the first figure set in the line–Jen and the Landstrider–is a Comic-Con exclusive, and buying anything at the Funko booth each year is nearly as tough as reuniting the Dark Crystal itself with its lost shard. You may have to be as nimble, crafty, and able to make allies as Jen, scoring the toy “by Gelfling hand, or else by none.” Then again, this could just be a test to see how well figures will sell. So if they run out…that could be good? At some point you’ve got to figure they’ll give Kira and Fizzgig a Landstrider too.

Bottom line: we really, really want Garthim next. And an Aughra’s observatory playset. And the urSkeks. And, and, and…

Yeah, okay. Everything. Everything works.
