    I like the theory that Lana Winters is the end result of Dot and Bette being separated.

    Not for nothing, but Ryan Murphy said this five years in an article in Entertainment Weekly, just after Murder House premiered. He also noted that they would revisit certain portions of the anthology before it was all done.
