Tattoos are about commitmentâlike, serious commitment. They don’t go away without a lot of work and money, and even then they’re not entirely erased. That said, deciding when to head to the shop and get your tattoo can be impulsive. In my experience, I mulled over tattoo designs I wanted for a while (except for my first tattoo, which I got at the age of 18 and chose from art on the wall at the store), but once I had the art and chose the artist, the actual act of getting the ink added was a spur of the moment decision. As in, I was on my way home from work and decided to stop and get myself poked with needles. What have your experiences in getting ink been like?
While you think about it, enjoy this week’s Inked Wednesday. First up: ink inspired by Mad Max: Fury Road and the film’s Oscar accolades.

Scroll the gallery below to see more nerdy tattoos. You’ll find Wan Shi Tong from Avatar: The Last Airbender (yes, that is super awesome), ink depicting Conan O’Brien’s face, a Dark Mark from Harry Potter, and more.
Have geeky ink of your own? I’d love to put it in the queue for future editions of Inked Wednesday. This weekly gallery is all about highlighting tattoos from readers. You can leave links to pictures of your tats in the comments, upload them on Instagram and tag or mention me, or send photos to me on Twitter. Please include the name of your tattoo artist if you have so I can include credit.
