In RAVEN #1, the TEEN TITAN Comes into Her Own (Exclusive Preview)

Raven, the Teen Titans‘ resident gothy mystic (who just so happens to be the daughter of an interdimensional demon named Trigon who wants to conquer the world), is returning in her very own solo six-part mini-series this fall. What’s extra cool about this latest series is that it reunites Raven with her co-creator, writer Marv Wolfman. Along with artist George Perez, Wolfman created the character for The New Teen Titans #1 way back in 1980. Joining her on the art duties is Brazilian artist Alisson Borges.

In the first issue of the new mini, Raven, a.k.a. Rachel Roth, decides to take a break from the Teen Titans after a recent tragedy (I won’t say exactly what that tragedy is, but you might want to read Detective Comics #940 for the full story). She goes to San Francisco to spend some time with her mother’s sister, an ordinary suburban aunt that she’s never met before, and her very ordinary suburban family. Can this spooky sorceress with demonic blood fit into an all-American home? And what does “the other side of the family”—namely, the demonic side—think of all this? I’ll go out on a limb and say probably nothing good.
